Fr. Robert Spitzer to Speak at Science and Faith Seminar

Fr. Robert Spitzer, distinguished scholar, apologist, and former university president will speak at a seminar on science and faith sponsored Concordia University Irvine Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy.

Who: Fr. Robert Spitzer, distinguished scholar, apologist, and former university president.

What:  A Seminar on science and faith sponsored Concordia University Irvine Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy will first explain the potential and limits of the scientific method in providing evidence for a transcendent reality. This distinguished lecture on physics and faith will then examine two major sources of evidence for a beginning of our universe: Space-time geometry proofs (particularly the 2003 Borde-Vilenkin-Guth Proof) and The Second Law of Thermodynamics (Entropy).

Tickets: This seminar is open to the public and to the entire university community.

More About Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ:

Fr. Spitzer is a Catholic Priest in the Jesuit Order, and is currently the President of the Magis Center of Reason and Faith (www.magiscenter.com) and the Spitzer Center (www.spitzercenter.org).  Fr. Spitzer was President of Gonzaga University from 1998 to 2009 where he was able to significantly increase the number of programs in faith, ethics, and leadership, build 20 new facilities, and increase the student body by 75%.  He is the author of five books, dozens of scholarly articles, and has appeared on many television series including the Larry King Show (debating Stephen Hawking), the History Channel, the Today Show, and has a multiple-part series for PBS – Closer to the Truth.
