World-Renowned Author Dr. Gary Chapman to Serve as Keynote at Concordia University Irvine 10th Annual Senior Fest

IRVINE, Calif. – Feb. 8, 2016 – Concordia University Irvine (CUI) today announced that Gary Chapman, Ph.D., will serve as keynote at the university’s annual Senior Fest which will take place on Monday, February 29 at 8:30am at the Irvine campus.

The 10th annual Senior Fest is a gathering of mature adults for learning, devotions and fellowship with the intent to enhance their physical, spiritual, social and intellectual lives. In his discussion, world-renowned author Chapman will draw upon his book The Five Love Languages (Northfield Publishing, 1992, 1993) which has sold more than four million copies in English, and has been translated into thirty-six languages worldwide.

“Each year the Senior Fest keynote brings valuable lessons, thoughts, and encouragement to attendees,” said CUI President Kurt Krueger. “Gary Chapman is an excellent presenter who has much to say about how we can best love one another. We’re looking forward to Gary sharing his insights.”

Since 1979, Chapman has authored more than 20 books. While having appeared on multiple television and radio programs, Chapman also hosts his own radio show, “A Love Language Minute,” which can be heard over 100 radio stations nation-wide. In addition to his writing and seminar schedule, Chapman is a senior associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he has served for 36 years.

Chapman is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in anthropology from Wheaton College and Wake Forest University, respectively. He received M.R.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has completed postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Duke University.

Senior Fest features workshops designed to assist congregations in their ministry. Tickets for general admission are $25; $10 students.
