(2/1/08 - Women's Track and Field) IRVINE - The Concordia women's indoor track and field team enjoyed the friendly confines of home for the second week in a row and made the most of cool conditions in preparation for the NAIA Championship meet.

A pair of Eagles inched closer to their goal of competing in Tennessee next month with provisional qualifying times. The 400 meters saw Linsie Michels reach the secondary standard with a time of 59.8, just 0.5 seconds behind former Concordia all-American Jeanelle Goonetilleke, who also ran in the race unattached.

Heading out to the distance events, Sandra Prado was also able to achieve an impressive provisional mark by clocking 10:40.3 in the 3,000 meters. Amanda Sauve and Amy Lund also competed in the 1,600, posting times of 5:41.1 and 5:55.1, respectively.

On the field, the Eagles welcomed Emma Valencia to the team as she competed for first time wearing the green and gold. She best teammate Michelle Franks in the long jump by just one-half inch, giving the Eagles two strong competitors in the event. Franks also performed well in the triple jump with a mark of 35'2.5".

Kelsie Wood continued her fine work in the high jump with a mark of 5'4" while Marie Gardner kept up her rare two-way showing by winning both the 60-meter dash and the shot put.

For the first time this season, the Eagles will venture out on the road this weekend, February 8-9 to take part in the APU Qualifier inside Cougar Stadium in Azusa.
