(2/26/08 - Softball) TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman Carly Smith smashed two more home runs to continue an unblemished Spring Break trip for #25-ranked Concordia as the Eagles posted wins over St. John Fisher (7-0), Briar Cliff (6-1) and Capital (14-1), Tuesday afternoon at the Tucson Invitational Games.

Smith hit home runs in each of the first two games of the day to run her team-leading total to four. She was joined on the home run list by Alicia Leto and Michelle Carter in the opening game as the Eagles posted their third-straight shutout of the tournament. Laura Wiens picked up the win while Kory Briggs came on in the 6th inning to wrap up the victory.

One of three players to go 2-for-4 against Briar Cliff, Smith drove in a pair of runs while catching her second-straight game. Carter continued her stellar trip with two hits while Ashley Alvarez smacked a pair of doubles. Briggs again came on to nail down the win after Sarah Frudakis tossed the first five innings.

Caitlyn Senkbeil drove in five runs in the finale of the day for the Eagles, who ran their winning streak to 8 in a row and have been victorious in 15-of-16. Carter went 3-for-4 while Shannon Walton went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Rachel Reekstin tossed all five innings for the Eagles before the mercy rule was invoked.

Concordia (16-3) wraps up its Tucson trip on Wednesday, February 27 with another match-up against Briar Cliff at 9:30 a.m. (MST) before concluding with a single game against Houston Baptist (Tex.) at 11:30 a.m.
