torresTorres Takes GSAC Defensive Award

GSAC Players of the Week

(10/15/07 - Women's Soccer) IRVINE - Junior goalkeeper Suzanne Torres wrapped up a solid week of play by earning the Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Torres made a total of 15 saves last week as the Eagles earned a 4-0 win against Vanguard, then battled to a scoreless draw at Westmont on Saturday. She had 12 of her saves against the Warriors to help the Eagles keep their 5th-straight clean sheet.

For the season, Torres has now earned three shutouts and has been a part of four others, putting the Eagles with 8 shutouts. That total leaves them just two shy of the single-season mark of 10 set back in 2002. Personally, Torres has a 0.63 goals against average, allowing just seven goals in just under 1000 minutes of play.

Concordia (11-2-1, 5-1-1) puts its #10 national ranking on the line on Tuesday, October 16 with a visit to #2-ranked and league-leading Azusa Pacific with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m.
