(10/2/07 - Women's Soccer) EL CAJON - Junior midfielder Kaitlyn Lux buried the game-winning goal with 37 seconds remaining in regulation to give #18-ranked Concordia a 1-0 victory over host San Diego Christian, Tuesday afternoon in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

A listless start to the game for the Eagles was countered with an energetic second half performance. However, there were still no goals to speak of for either side until the dying moments of the game.

Following a drop ball that saw the Hawks take possession, the Eagles stripped the ball and it found its way to Natalie Tankersley on the right flank. She crossed midfield and advanced the ball 20 yards into the opposing half. From there, she spotted Lux making a run towards goal.

A low driven ball by Tankersley slipped past a pair of defenders and directly into the path of Lux. With a defender bearing down on her from behind, Lux did not waste time with additional touches and set up for a first-time strike. She was rewarded for her bravery as her shot nestled into the far right corner to help the Eagles escape with all three points.

"San Diego Christian came into the game and from the opening whistle sent out the message that they would be no pushovers on the day," said head coach Hamid Sedehi, whose team kept touch with the league leaders by moving to nine points. "After understanding that this game would be no pushover, we came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and kept the ball in their end for the majority of the half."

The Eagles were outshot by a 6-2 margin in the first half, but countered that with a 8-3 tally in the final 45 minutes for a slim 10-9 overall advantage. Suzanne Torres tallied five saves to earn her second shutout of the season.

Concordia (9-2-0, 3-1-0 GSAC) hosts Biola this Saturday, October 6 in the first half of a doubleheader with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.
