Tournament Results

(4/3/07 - Women's Golf) LONG BEACH - Junior Amanda Mathiasmeyer rolled in a 35-foot birdie putt on the 7th hole and finished in a tie for 7th place overall to help host Concordia take second place at the CUI Invitational, Tuesday afternoon at the Skylinks Golf Club.

With the pin tucked into the front left corner of the green, Mathiasmeyer hit her approach shot on the 350-yard par 4 pin high, but it was on the opposite side of the green with a slight undulation between her and the hole. Her putt gently moved to the left, then came back to the right and rolled dead center into the hole.

Mathiasmeyer was very consistent over the 36-hole event, following up her 81 on Monday with a round of 82 on Tuesday to help the Eagles take runner-up honors at 666. Cal State Monterey Bay won the event, led by individual champion Cicilia Chudivan at +7.

Olivia Nazihi fired a 77 on Monday and took 6th place overall with a two-day total of 162. Megan Bruce and Laura Sumpter were the next two finishers for the Eagles, finishing one shot apart with Bruce at 171 and her partner one shot higher. Yvonne Goll completed the five-player grouping with a 2-round total of 177.

Concordia now has three weeks to prepare for the NAIA Region II Tournament, taking place April 23-24 at Terra Lago Golf Club in Indio.
