(2/1/08 - Men's Track and Field) IRVINE - For the second-straight week, the Concordia men's indoor track and field squad took to its own track as the Eagles continued to search for qualifying marks for the upcoming NAIA championships.

Sophomore Alaeeddine Khannouchi made his first appearance of the season an impressive one as he will join his teammates in Tennessee next month after qualifying for the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:06.7.

Back on the field for the second-straight week were the Concordia throwers and they showed that they are heading in the right direction as well. All-American Paul Castaneda improved upon his qualifying mark of a week ago and recorded a throw of 57'9". Newcomer Shane Mervau also went further than a week ago and logged a heave of 55'3.5". Chad Smith continues to make progress as well and hit 52'10".

Back on the track, Michael Leonetti impressed the coaches for the second week running as he posted a time of 8.7 in the 60-meter hurdles. In just one week, Leonetti cut 0.5 seconds off his time to drop his own school record down to a faster mark. Other winning their events for the day were Nathan Winkler (200m), Jared Rolins (400m) and Tony Pulido (1000m).

The Eagles hit the road this weekend, February 8-9, for their first meet away from home as they take part in the APU Qualifier inside Cougar Stadium.
