 Trio Take Home All-America Honors
(5/21/07 - Men's Tennis) IRVINE - Junior Tim Kpulun capped off the most successful individual season in Concordia history by being named a NAIA 1st-team all-American, one of three Eagles to earn national recognition.
Fellow junior Daniel Ndlela was named to the second team along with freshman Augusto Elias to round out the contingency. The Eagles also had Rodolfo Jimenez earn Scholar-Athlete recognition for his achievements both on the court and in the classroom.
Kpulun became the first player in program history to earn 1st-team honors after losing just once in singles competition this season. He capped off the season by winning the prestigious Ojai Invitational championship in the small colleges division. The win was extra sweet for Kpulun, who had taken the runner-up spot each of the past two seasons.
The three players were part of a Concordia team in just its second season since its return to intercollegiate play that finished 13-9 on the season and posted a 4-4 mark in GSAC play. The Eagles finished the season ranked #18 in the final NAIA Coaches Poll and narrowly missed out on a first-ever berth to the NAIA Men's Tennis Championships in Mobile, Ala.
