Qualifier Results

(7/19/07 - Men's Golf) LONG BEACH - Concordia University sophomore Ryan Kelley matched four other golfers with a 4-under par round of 68 and won a playoff at the Long Beach Open Amateur Qualifying Tournament and qualified for a spot in the 19th Annual Long Beach Open Golf Tournament, July 26-29 at El Dorado Park and Skylinks Golf Courses.

Kelley was one of eight amateurs to earn a spot in the main draw after the 18-hole qualifier at Recreation Park Golf Course on Wednesday, July 18. Five players finished with rounds of 68, but Kelley was among three other players to survive the playoff and earn a spot in the 72-hole event.

Though Kelley is not eligible to earn any part of the $155,000 total purse, he is still afforded the opportunity to play in a sanctioned professional event as an amateur player. Players will play one round at each course during the first two days of competition before the cut is made down to the top 60 players and ties after 36 holes.

Kelley helped Concordia qualify for its first-ever NAIA Tournament in May and finished his three rounds of play at +14. However, his overall play was outstanding as he carded rounds of +1 and +2 around a difficult second round when conditions became difficult for all of the players.
