Race Results 

(9/15/07 - Cross Country) KENOSHA, Wisc. - Alaeeddine Khannouchi led the Eagles to a fifth place finish this weekend as the Concordia men’s cross country team took part in the Midwest Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Eagles, who have started out the season with two top-five finishes, were led by Khannouchi who claimed the 8th place spot, finishing the 8,000 meter race in 25:30. Tony Pulido (13th) trailed Khannouchi by only ten seconds, coming in at 25:40, followed closely by teammate Jorge Jabaz. Jabaz notched a 16th place finish, posting a time of 25:47.

Axel Ambriz was not far behind CUI’s top three finishers.  Ambriz (26:28) came in at 37th for Concordia, just ahead of Guillermo Cazares. Cazares rounded out the Eagles’ scoring runners, finishing in 39th with a time of 26:35. 

Concordia’s displaced runners, Raymundo Vazquez (27:23) and Tomas Aguirre (27:45) completed the race in 67th and 76th place. Luis De La Vega finished in the 88th spot, good for a 27:50 time.

"Overall I thought the trip was a success for the program," said head coach Martin Gonzalez. "The guys continue to improve all around and I am proud of how they approached the competition. Their perseverance is well recognized."

Concordia is currently ranked #3 in the NAIA’s September 12th National Poll. The Eagles will look to build upon their success on September 29th as they head up to Salem, Oregon, for the Willamette Invitational. CUI has a history of success there, as the Eagles won the race last year, claiming four of the top ten spots.
