Concordia is pleased to announce Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B Minor for this season’s MasterWorks Concerts. As early as 1811, C.F. Zelter commended it as “the greatest work of art that the world has ever seen.” The large vocal work embodies Bach’s lifetime of experience in expressing theological ideas through music. Occupying his efforts for an exceptional period of time, the Mass in B Minor is a compendium of all the compositional techniques of his day and is extraordinarily rich in symbolism. As such, each modern-day presentation of this monumental work is a special event.
