How to Apply for Financial Aid


For students applying for 2013-2014 (Summer 2013, Fall 2013, Spring 2014).
  • Apply for a FAFSA PIN at www.pin.ed.gov (first time applicants only or to retrieve a PIN)
  • Complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. For returning students complete the FAFSA Renewal.
  • Fill out the 2013-2014 Post Bac Financial Aid Application
  • Credential students who received the Cal Grant as an undergrad, fill out the Cal Grant Renewal form
  • LCMS church workers may be eligible for the Church Career Grant by filling out the Church Career Grant Form

Financial Aid Eligibility

So what are Credential Students eligible for?

  • All students are eligible for the Federal Direct Stafford Loans up to $7,500 a year for dependent students & $12,500 a year for independent students
  • LCMS church workers can be eligible for the Church Career Grant. Students must be in one of the following programs to be eligible: DCE 5th year; DCE Internship; CA Credential Program.
  • Credential students who have a low EFC (based on FAFSA calculations) can be eligible for the Pell Grant
  • Credential students who had the Cal Grant as an undergraduate can be eligible for a Cal Grant renewal. A G-44 form must be submitted to CSAC (www.csac.ca.gov) for Cal Grant eligibility.

Awarding of Financial Aid and Electronic Award Notification

  • Once your financial aid package is completed, an Electronic Award notification will be sent to your Eagles email account. Review your Electronic Award Notification immediately through Banner Web under Student Services, Financial Aid, and My Overall Status. It will indicate the types and amounts of aid you are eligible to receive. Review your award carefully. Click on what you accept and/or decline. If you are a first time Stafford Loan borrower at CUI, you will need to complete Online Entrance Counseling and electronically sign the Master Promissory Note. Links are also provided in your Banner Web electronic award.
