Financial Aid for Graduate Students


How to Apply for Financial Aid

  • Apply for a FAFSA PIN at www.pin.ed.gov (first time applicants only or to retrieve a PIN)
  • Complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov , for returning students complete the FAFSA Renewal
  • Fill out the 2009-2010 Post Bac Financial Aid Application 
  • LCMS church workers may be eligible for the Church Career Grant by filling out the Church Career Grant Form 

Additional documentation may be necessary. If so, the Graduate Financial Aid Office will contact you requesting the documentation.


Financial Aid Eligibility

So what are Graduate Students Eligible for?

  • All students are eligible for the Stafford Federal Loans up to $20,500 a year
  • LCMS church workers can be eligible for the Church Career Grant.

Awarding of Financial Aid and Electronic Award Notification

For Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Award Letters

Note New Students: Once you’ve been fully accepted into your program, you will be awarded financial aid.  

  • Once your financial aid package is completed, an Electronic Award notification will be sent to your eagles email account. Review your Electronic Award Notification immediately. It will indicate the types and amounts of aid you are eligible to receive. Review your award carefully. Click on what you accept and/or decline, then click the "Submit" button at the bottom. If you are a first time Stafford Loan borrower at CUI, you will need to complete Online Entrance Counseling and electronically sign the Master Promissory Note. Otherwise, we will continue to use the same lender from the previous year. Links are also provided in your email electronic award.

Helpful hints:

  • Click “Register” on Your Electronic Award (YEA) to create user ID and password to view your award.
  • Log into your electronic award and click on the date to view the award.
  • Please review your award and choose to either accept or decline your different awards.
  • Once you’ve made your decisions, click “Submit”

If you accept loans, the following will also need to be done:

  • Go to www.simpletuition.com/cui/home
  • Put in your loan amount, student status & check Federal Stafford Loan. Then click “Find Loan”.
  • Put in additional information, then click “View Loans”.
  • Choose your lender and click “apply” next to the lender’s information.
  • Log into OpenNet using your ID and password from YEA
  • Click on “Start a New Loan”
  • Click on “I am a student”
  • Click on “Start a Federal Stafford Loan”
  • Fill in requested information and complete loan questionnaire
  • Submit Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically
For Summer/Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 Award letters:
