Steve Martin has been in secondary education for thirty five years, thirty one of those years he has served as an Athletic Director at five different high schools. Currently, Steve is the Athletic Director at Ayala High School located in Chino Hills. The Bulldogs are a large High School with very successful boys and girls athletic programs. For the past ten years Steve has led Ayala to the achievement of the Sierra League All Sports Trophy. The league awards this trophy for the highest placement in all levels of league play. Steve has also had the opportunity to "open" three new high schools and set the standards for athletics within those new schools.
Steve has served on various advisory committees for the CIF Southern Section. He was President of the Foothill/Citrus Athletic Directors Association of the San Gabriel Valley in 1986. In 1996 he was honored by the Southern Section CIF as Athletic Director of the Year at the CSADA convention. The following year Steve was honored as the 1997 California Coaches Association's Boys Athletic Director of the Year. In 1998 Steve completed the course of Coaching Principles & Leadership Training offered by the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Education Program and is now a certified instructor. Steve has also successfully completed the Character Counts Sports Training Seminar offered by the Joseph Josephson Institute of Ethics. Steve has been a speaker at several of the CSADA State Conferences with topics ranging from "Dealing with Difficult Parents" to "Summer Sports Camps-Another Season of Sport". In 2008 Steve was honored with the "Bob Troppmann Lifetime Achievement Award" given by the State Athletic Directors at the State conference.
