Master of Arts in Education - Curriculum & Instruction

Concordia University offers a program directed toward the preparation of master classroom teachers. The program provides the opportunity for the teacher to extend preparation in professional education through coursework and to pursue further work in subject matter areas where he/she feels a need for greater teaching proficiency.

This program will enable the teacher to:

 - Increase mastery in the skills of teaching.
 - Achieve a deeper penetration in subjects of professional interest.
 - Enhance understanding of the learner and the process of education.
 - Become a resource person for curriculum development.
 - Develop skills necessary for instructional leaders.

Edu 584 Classroom Management - 3 units
Edu 585 Educational Technology: Level I - 3 units
Edu 586 Educational Technology: Level II (Prerequisite: Edu 585 or equivalent) - 3 units

Capstone Selections (option depends on program & site)
Edr 601 Action Research Project and Oral Presentation (Prerequisite: Edu 580) - 3 units
Edr 602 Thesis and Oral Presentation (Prerequisities: Edu 580 and approval from the program director) - 3 units
Edr 603 Independent Research Paper and Oral Presentation* (Prerequisities: Edu 580 and completion of all but six semester hours of coursework in student's program) - 1 unit
Edr 605 Collaborative Action Research Project

*Edr 603 requires that the student enroll in one additional course in the student's area of concentration to fulfill the total number of semester units required for the Master of Art's program.
