The first thing that I really appreciated about the program is that it was conveniently located and that the classes met on the same day for the duration of the program. I also appreciated the help and assistance from those heading up the program even though they were in Irvine! I always got my questions answered in a swift and professional manner! I enjoyed the courses and the ability to hear and share various points of view on every topic that we learned about. The instructors, being that they were 'in the field,' were a HUGE PLUS for me! I got to hear and learn about real life situations that are occurring today in the world of athletics. The demand of work certainly was not overwhelming, but it did cause me to be able to research and learn about current topics and trends in athletic administration. I really enjoyed the program!

Brad Davis

MCAA 560 Leadership and Administration

Brad Davis grew up in Pasadena into a basketball family. At last count, fourteen members of the Davis family played or coached college basketball. Brad followed suit and played Junior College basketball at Orange Coast College and Pasadena City College. In 1987, while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a Computer Science Major, Brad was invited to play for a basketball team touring Spain. After playing in Spain, he decided to enroll at Point Loma Nazarene University. His experience working with the youth in Spain awakened a passion to teach and coach. He changed his major from computer science to education and finished his playing career at PLNU. After graduation, he began his teaching and coaching career at Blair High School. During his fifteen years as an educator, he has worked at Newhart and Arroyo Vista Middle Schools, Blair, Tri-City and San Clemente high schools, Orange Coast Community College and Concordia University. In those years, he taught English, Physical Education, Science, History, Reading and Study Skills. He has worked as an Assistant Dean, Freshman Mentor, Discipline Team Committee Member, Head Basketball Coach, Head Volleyball Coach, Athletic Director, and Assistant Men's Basketball coach at Concordia University. He holds a Master's Degree in Teaching from Grand Canyon University and a Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Sports Management and Leadership (ABD) from Northcentral University. He has been married 15 years to his wife Erica and has two great sons; Porter is 7 and Shad is 10. Brad began teaching in the Concordia University Masters Degree Program in Coaching and Athletic Administration in the summer semester of the 2008-09 academic year.
