Concordia Christmas Eve Service to Bring Campus Together to Eat, Sing and Be Merry

Concordia Christmas Eve Service to Bring Campus Together to Eat, Sing and Be Merry

Who: Concordia University Irvine’s choirs, orchestra, handbells and the campus community.

What: The Concordia “Christmas Eve” Worship Service is a campus-wide Christmas celebration. Students, faculty and staff gather during the final week of the semester to celebrate Christmas together before students return home. The candlelight worship service includes congregational singing with several choir anthems, many traditional Christmas lessons and carols to sing together, and a time for children to come up for a children's message.

A Christmas dinner hosted by President Krueger will be served in the cafeteria for students, faculty and staff and their families prior to the service. Family members and friends of Concordia are welcome to attend.

President Kurt Krueger said of the special service, "Because most members of the Concordia family -- students, faculty and staff -- will be celebrating Christmas Eve with their own family members and because we wanted to celebrate Christmas as a Concordia family, our Christmas Eve celebration may take place two weeks before December 24, but that celebration will certainly be filled with true Christmas spirit."

Pastor Anderson added, "There is no better joy than to celebrate the birth of the long-expected Savior of the world, Jesus. Concordia Christmas Eve is when we gather together as a community of Christ, to remember, celebrate, and sing with great joy that "A child is born in Bethlehem."
