Concordia University Irvine's Faith and Business Forum to Feature Author Mark Miller as Keynote

IRVINE, Calif. (February 2, 2016) Concordia University Irvine (CUI) today announced details for the 13th Annual Faith & Business Forum, which will take place Wednesday, March 2 and will feature a keynote presentation from author Mark Miller, a corporate executive who has traveled to more than 50 countries to talk about the role of servant leadership in the workplace. Members of the business community, as well as church and community leaders, are expected to attend the lunchtime event, held at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa.

“I look forward to sharing the principles and practices of servant leadership,” Miller said. “It is a high standard and one we may never achieve; but by keeping the standard high, and always striving, everyone wins.”

Miller has written and co-authored five books. The Secret: What Great Leaders Know and Do has over 500,000 copies in print in more than 25 languages. The Secret of Teams outlines the key principles that enable some teams to thrive while others teams remain challenged. Other written work includes: Great Leaders Grow: Becoming a Leader for Life, The Heart of Leadership and the newest release, Chess not Checkers. Miller is an executive at Chick-fil-A who got his foot in the door in 1977 as an hourly team member then in 1978, joined the corporate staff working in the warehouse and mailroom. Since then, Miller has provided leadership for corporate communications, field operations, quality and customer satisfaction, training and development and currently serves as the vice president for High Performance Leadership. During his tenure, annual sales have grown to over $6 billion and there are nearly 2,000 restaurants in 39 states. This will be Miller’s first time speaking at Concordia University Irvine.

"As event keynote, Mark will speak from his impressive experience in business leadership and influence Christian principles and ethics at Chick-fil-A and continues the treasured tradition of learning from life examples exceptional Christian business leaders like Mark and award honoree Kelly."

Honoring Servant Leadership
Established to honor, celebrate and foster actionable faith in business leadership and the values of excellence and integrity, the Faith & Business Forum will include the presentation of the Faithfulness & Excellence Award to honoree Kelly Keithly, founder and owner of Keithly-Williams Seeds. The Faithfulness & Excellence Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates visionary leadership, steadfast Christian standards and exemplary business success. Kelly Keithly and business partner Walt Williams founded Keithly-Williams Seeds in 1981 and today the company is recognized as the largest supplier of vegetable seeds in the Southwest. Through his career, Keithly has shown his dedication to serving God and is known to devote time to pray for the company, its customers and his employees.

Broadview Mortgage, an Orange-based family-owned business, is the presenting sponsor. The Bahnsen Group, an investment firm based in Newport Beach, is the major sponsor. Scheduled to participate in a panel discussion are Founder of Foot Petals and author Tina Aldatz; Founder and Chief Investment Officer of The Bahnsen Group David L. Bahnsen; and Founder of Pick Up Stix Charlie Zhang.
