Freshman Parking Policy

As Concordia University, Irvine continues to be blessed with increased traditional undergraduate enrollment each year, we anticipate this trend will continue in the 2013-2014 academic year. This fall, we plan to welcome the largest new student class and the largest overall enrollment in the history of CUI.  Due to increased enrollment and limited parking, we’ve concluded that resident first-time freshmen will not be permitted to have motorized vehicles on campus.

In order to provide a transportation alternative for students, Concordia will make available short-term rental cars at a central location on campus. Students who subscribe to the service can schedule a time to use a car and will have access to the vehicles through a key card provided by the vendor.  Short-term rental vehicles are handy for running errands, going to social events, touring local attractions and other transportation needs. Insurance, gas, road-side assistance and vehicle maintenance is included in the subscription cost. More information regarding subscription rates and specific amenities is forthcoming.

We realize that some students have extenuating circumstances where having a vehicle is necessary, so these students may appeal to have their vehicle on campus. Resident freshmen students, who are able to demonstrate a compelling need for a vehicle, may appeal to register their vehicle on campus.  Those interested in appealing may contact their admissions counselor or Campus Safety by email at CampusSafety@cui.edu.  Please be prepared to provide sufficient documentation supporting your appeal.

If you are appealing the freshman parking policy due to personal health or disability concerns, please contact the Disability and Learning Resource Center at (949) 214-3039.
