Scholarship Application
Theatre Scholarship Information & Application
The theatre department at Concordia University Irvine gives scholarships - called Theatre Activity Awards - to students that the faculty feel have strong promise to make an impact in the department. Applicants do not need to be theatre majors in order to apply for or receive scholarship funds. Students apply by faxing or mailing in the application below along with two (2) letters of recommendation and samples of their work. Appropriate samples of work might be copies of a design portfolio or performance of a 1-2 minute monologue on DVD or performed in person in front of faculty members (contact Prof. Lori Siekmann to schedule an audition date). Scholarship funds are limited and thus the application process is competitive. Students are encouraged to apply early.
Once a scholarship has been earned, the only two requirements to continue earning the scholarship funds each year at Concordia are (1) that the student must be involved in one production per semester at Concordia in some capacity. Working as an actor, designer, director, crew person, or house manager are all appropriate ways to maintain one's Theatre Activity Award and (2) that the student must enroll in one 3 credit hour course in theatre each year.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Prof. Lori Siekmann at (949) 214-3426 or Prof. Tony Vezner at (949) 214-3425.
