Students talk about CUI's Christ College

The professors at Concordia really do care about their students and their success after college. The professors in the Director of Christian Education program pray for their students by name. It is this kind of personal attention that puts Concordia professors above the rest. Patra Mueller and Harry Hebel both worked hard at forming relationships with me, stretching me and challenging me not only in the classroom but in my daily life. I found, though, that all of my theology professors were the same way. They wanted to see me do my best, and they knew the way to do this was to guide me, help me, and challenge me.
Prospective students interested in becoming a DCE should come to Concordia because the professors and classes not only teach you about DCE work, but they teach you about yourself. They give you the tools to lead and provide guidance and understanding to use those tools. Above all of this, Concordia is about relationships. The faculty and staff care about the whole person of the student.

Besides learning from wonderful professors who have experience in Christian Leadership, Concordia gives the added opportunities to do ministry on and off the campus. Youth Ministry Teams which helps do lock-ins with kids for churches and the Outreach program gives Christian Education students opportunities to serve God's people, love Christ, and learn about youth ministry.

My time at Concordia was marked by challenge, growth, and development in every part of my life. I was challenged in my worldview, grew in my faith, and developed as a Christian leader due to the dedication, warmth, and knowledge of my Concordia professors. Learning from and working with Christ College over the past two years is an experience I will never forget. I wholeheartedly thank the faculty and staff of Christ College for their support, teaching, and mentorship of me and many other Christian leaders over the years.

Students wishing to gain further insight into the Bible, Christian doctrine, world religions, ethics, church history and Biblical languages, will benefit by studying in CUI's School of Theology. Even if the intent is not to major in theology, I would encourage taking a few courses above the required GE courses, if for no other reason than to learn more about Christ and grow spiritually.

My favorite professor would have to be Professor Patra Mueller. This is because when it comes to becoming a DCE she has the real world experience and she can show us what can happen when we get out into our jobs.

I'm learning to be a leader for tomorrow, and deepening my relationship with Jesus so I can serve His church. Concordia is not just a school to me, not just a hurdle in the race of life. This is an opportunity to learn, be mentored, and succeed as a professional, practical, and usable servant for Christ. Concordia has given me an education with a purpose.
