Online Master of Arts in Education
Welcome to the School of Education!
To earn a master's degree at Concordia University means to "master" the knowledge base of a particular subject so well that you are able to understand thoroughly and discuss articulately the complex issues posed by the experts in your field. It means to "master" the skills necessary to select and use appropriate information to answer the important questions posed by leaders in your profession. And it means to learn how to bring what "the Master Teacher" teaches to the ethical and spiritual dilemmas which confront educated people in the 21st Century.
There are 5 terms per year. Each term is eight weeks.
- Spring I
- Spring II
- Fall I
- Fall II
Students may start at the beginning of Fall I or Spring II.
Most students take one or two classes per term depending on the pace they want to go.

- Degree is completely obtainable online; there are no residency requirements
The 30-unit curriculum consists of nine 3-unit courses and one 3-unit capstone project.
Students must take 5 core courses (including capstone) and 5 non-core courses.

- EDOL 524 - Coping with Stress & Violence in Today's Classrooms
- EDOL 540 - Community of Learners (not presently offered in course rotations)
- EDOL 542 - School, Community and Diverse Family Structures
- EDOL 547 - Brain Based Teaching & Learning
- EDOL 552 - Schools as Diverse Organizations (not presently offered in course rotations)
- EDOL 576 - Fostering Learning Through Health (not presently offered in course rotations)
- EDOL 584 - Classroom Management (not presently offered in course rotations)
- EDOL 586 - Educational Technology: Level II
- EDOL 595 - Developing Character & Ethics
Capstone - Required
- Capstone: Action Research Project & Oral Presentation (Prerequisite: Educational Research)
*Educational Research (EDOL 580) and Capstone: Action Research (EDOL 605) are the last two culminating courses for the Curriculum and Instruction program.
1 Year Track:
EDOL 580 will be taken in the 4th term with a second course
2 Year Track:
EDOL 605 will be taken in the 5th term with a second course
EDOL 580 will be taken after a minimum of 21 units
EDOL 605 will be taken after successful completion of EDOL 580
Remember, to be eligible for this program you must already have a current or expired teaching credential* or have completed a state approved teaching program.
