I have found so much of the information that I have garnered in this class to be useful and practically applicable to my job as a coach. I really am pleasantly surprised at the level and amount of useful, valuable information that I'm accumulating from this masters program. I am truly amazed at so many of the discoveries that I have made as a result of the few classes I have taken through Concordia University. I am overwhelmed at the practical and useful information that has been provided in just this short amount of time. I had no idea what God had planned when I enrolled in this program. As usual, He never disappoints!

Mike Reardon

MCAA 510 Principles of Coaching and Leadership
MCAA 560 Leadership and Administration

Mike Reardon began his teaching and coaching career in 1969. He is a graduate of Weber State University with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Biology. His first coaching assignment was an assistant to every male sport in a small school in the west desert of Utah. After spending 4 years as an apprentice he moved to a larger school in the district as an assistant in football, basketball and baseball.

In 1976 Mike moved on to Colorado State University as a graduate assistant in football, receiving his Masters Degree in Education in 1978. While attending classes at CSU he was in charge of the J.V. football program as well as coaching the offensive line and defensive secondary. He was an instructor in the Department of Physical Education along with his other duties.

Returning to his home state, Reardon assisted at several high schools in the Salt Lake City area, coaching football and baseball. He became the head baseball coach at Granite High School in 1985. A second opportunity came about in 1989 when he was asked to coach the running backs at the University of New Hampshire. After 2 seasons on the East coast he returned to SLC to become the Head Football Coach at Cottonwood High School where he remained for 7 years. He was elected as President of the Utah Football Coaches Association president working in conjunction with the Utah Activities Association.

For the past 11 years, Reardon has been a head football coach at the high school level, in Phoenix Arizona. This is his first term as an instructor in the Master's Program at Concordia, teaching the MCAA 510 class.
