WHO:

The Orange County DUI Task Force (Automobile Club of Southern California, County of Orange Health Care Agency, MADD-OC and a coalition of community groups/agencies working to prevent alcohol and drug impaired driving in county), the Center for Public Policy at Concordia University and Third District OC Supervisor Todd Spitzer, author of the Steve Ambriz Act.

Representatives from the Auto Club, OC Board of Supervisors, OC Health Care Agency, MADD, state Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), OC District Attorney’s Office, OC police chiefs, DUI experts and a DUI car crash victim also will be participating. Presenters will cover checkpoints and saturation patrols, OC DUI-DUID data, public awareness campaigns, responsible beverage service, social host ordinances and more.

OTS Director Christopher Murphy will present county DUI data and DUID trends. Supervisor Spitzer will present the OC Community Indicators’ Report which, for the first time this year, will include OC drinking and driving statistics. Marilyn Ellis, OC mother of Kimberly Ellis, who was killed in a DUI crash, also will speak.

WHAT: Orange County DUI Summit The OC DUI Summit brings local policy makers, elected officials and law 

enforcement together in a unique one-day meeting to help deter DUI countywide.

The summit will provide a forum for local leaders to discuss “Orange County Best Practices for DUI Prevention.” After summit, DUI prevention tactics will be encouraged to be brought back to cities/boards for adoption. 

WHERE: Concordia University, DeNault Auditorium, 1530 Concordia West, Irvine 9
